Setelah beberapa hari Mozilla merilis Firefox 3.5 codenamed “Shiretoko“, Mozilla telah mengumumkan project baru - Mozilla Firefox 3.6 dengan codenamed "Namoroka“, dengan target untuk dirilis sekitar tahun 2010.
Firefox 3.6 atau Namoroka akan dibuat berdasarkan Gecko 1.9.2 dengan peningkatan baru dan fitur baru.
Performance
The time taken for startup, opening a new tabs, and responsiveness with the user inferface will be improved. Common user tasks will feel more responsive and faster. It’s a good news for daily users. The new enhancements will enable Firefox 3.6 to :
- open a new tab- load a bookmarked page
- autocomplete a location in the Awesomebar
- play rich media content
and will improve the time by 50 milliseconds. Firefox 3.6 will also have an improvement of startup speed – they are looking for speed increases by lessening the startup time by 50ms compared to 3.5 to startup time. Firefox 3.6 will also be implementing animation and other techniques to improve perceive speed and efficiently reduce the lag time between action and feedback.
Personalization and Customization
Firefox 3.6 will also introduce identity management and probably the feature to create more than one users for the browser.
Light Weight Themes and Add-ons
Firefox 3.6 will allow the user to install “light weight” themes and add-ons without requiring a restart to install the selected component.
Customized Browser Behaviors
Firefox 3.6 will introduce identity management and will customize browser behaviors based on personal history like:
- opening a new tab / navigation tasks- search related tasks
- form fill tasks
- about:me personal portal
Task Based Navigation
Firefox 3.6 will support web navigation by tag/date/source metadata.
Tabs
It will also add the ability to create, save and restore groups of tabs as well as searching for an existing tab.
Common Web-application Tasks
It will also allow users to accomplish common web-application tasks with the help of Taskfox. Taskfox will be part of the existing Firefox user interface, and will be localized to all locales that Firefox ships with.
Improved Download Manager
Firefox 3.6 will introduce file management tasks such as deleting, moving, cut/pasting in the download manager.
Web Application Support
Firefox 3.6 will improve editing tools for creating rich data on websites, allow users to save a page as web app and also, improve user interface for sending files to websites.
System Integration With Windows 7, Aero Glass, Aero Peek & More
Firefox 3.6 will introduce a better system integration with Windows 7, Windows Aero Glass, Windows Aero Peek, OSX Dictionary, OSX Services & AppleScript and OSX Keychain.

- support user interface animations in XUL- compositor (to support layered/cropped user interface window elements)
Performance
- chrome JIT- ability to register chrome components without restart
- network resource pre-caching to reduce page load times when clicking a link
- improved cache pinning support
- make cache more reliable so that it can be used when restoring a user session on a restart or after a crash
- solidifying nsIRunnable and thread support before Mozilla 2
